Creditors -- vent

So now that wedding is over & things are more settled, I'm working with DH to start paying off his debts. So we ordered his credit report to see what he owes & figured out what we're going to pay & in what order. So I called the first creditor, arranged payment & done. Called next creditor, paid them off & done. Before I could even call the next one on our list, it seems like all the others have found out that we're working on paying off his debit and all of sudden they are all calling again & sending letters. They left him a lone for quiet some time. So of course now I have more people demanding money then we can afford to pay off at one time. We're trying to make right, we both have 2 jobs to help out the situation but it will still take time before everything is paid off but no one wants to hear that. I'm being to think I never should have contacted anyone to pay them off (I know it was the right thing to do though) because then they would leave us alone.

  • WTF? Look at it from their side? A business is not a friendship. The OP is trying to make good on the debt. She doesn't need to be judged for that.

OP, this is what you need to do. When they call asking for money, take down the name o

  • Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I do understand the one point of the pp that she would be calling too. I may look into seeing what it would cost us monthly to do a loan to pay them off in one lump sum & then just have to worry about one paymen

  • I hope you know those creditors "bought" the debt at pennies to the dollar. So tell them you want to pay them off in a lump sum but only have x. I would offer them like 60-70 percent of the original debt and see if they take it
