I lurk on my BMB and there was a post a few weeks ago that has still stuck with me and had me thinking.
Do you think it is inappropriate to kiss a baby/child on the mouth? Do people in your family kiss on the lips as adults?
I'm trying to decide if some of the responses in the post are influenced geographically or race or just the way you are brought up.
I kiss M on the mouth without thinking twice about it. She actually opens her mouth completely and slobbers all over me. We do not kiss on the lips in my family as adults; we greet each other by kissing on the cheek. DH also kisses M on the lips and I don't think it is strange. I'm sure there will be a point that we switch from the lips to the cheek, but I don't know the exact age that this will be.

Re: Can we have a friendly debate??
My DH and I both do the same as you guys. I see nothing wrong with it. I remember as a child doing the same to my parents. I also did with my niece and nephew. I'm not really sure when it stopped and went to kisses on the cheek.

But, I can tell
I'll kiss K on the lips and DH will too, but probably less often than me. Other than that I don't kiss any relative on the mouth, cheek only.
Id rather not have anyone else kiss DD on the lips so I taught her to give kisses on people
We do same, and both as babies opened mouths to "maul with drool". IDK what either of us did as kids though. But I think its fine and I think eventually the kids will stop, (especially boys) when they are older in school. We don't do
I was raised kissing on cheek and never ever kissing any baby that was not yours on the face, toddlers and up on the cheek, top of head. . J's family does this kiss on the cheek thing. Neither side does lips and I don't think sis, bro or sil kiss

I'm pretty much in agreement with everyone here...

I kiss all my family on the cheek(s).
I do recall I used to kiss my mom and dad on the lips as a child but I, myself, switched to cheeks when I felt I d
