interviewing/offers

My husband and I are relocating for his job, and I am currently interviewing for new positions where we are moving. I am an SLP, so the job is high-demand in some areas, including the area we are moving to.

I interviewed for a position through a contract company (fairly common) working for a state program. The position seems great. The contract company has sent me a "contingent contract" (so I could see what it will likely look like), but have not given me a formal offer because there are a number of approvals and hoops that the state dept. has to to jump through, since the job is affiliated with the state and a local university. I have not signed anything, and most of our correspondence has been through phone and email.

In the meantime, I have been doing other phone interviews. Another position has come up that I am not as far along in the process as the above position (what I mean by this is, I have had my first interview and another this week), but they are offering a better benefits plan (including a $6000 sign-on bonus), and have expressed strong interest in me via email and the first phone interview.

My question is, should I stop the state position approval process from happening if this second job may be the one that I decide to take? I just hate to have the first place go through what I know is a tedious credentialing and approval process while I am still weighing my other options.

Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated.  If I rambled on anything, please let me know and I will do my best to clarify.

Thanks!

    However, at

  • Thanks! I see what you mean.

I just haven't been in an area where there are multiple positions, and potentially multiple offers. I'm currently commuting 50 miles each way for a position that is less than ideal. So this situation is new to me and

  • I would suggest you to get both the offers on the table. After you get both offers then compare the benefits you?ll get from them. Then you may decide which one to go with.
  • Update -

Thanks for all of the help. I ended up accepting the second job offer (with better benefits, and a bonus). The first option still hadn't even finished their "processing" when I received the second option.

    Now that I've got a
