Question for mama's (fairly graphic but I wanna know)

Prior to going into labor did anyone have loose stools? I'm hoping this isn't TMI and I apologize if it is. Since yesterday afternoon I've had about 6-7 trips to the bathroom and had diarrhea like stools but none of the nasty cramping feeling that usually accommodates it. Nor has it lasted several rounds in one sitting. I read at one point that it can be a sign of labor but I haven't really had any contractions besides a few BH and an overall uncomfortable feeling in my stomach. Anyway, just curious about others experiences.

  • I did but I always felt like it was the contractions making it happen. It is kind of hard for me to answer because I was in labor for 6 weeks with them stopping my labor twice and then augmenting it when it was finally time. Every time I went in and th

  • I've just been trying to decide if it was something I ate, which I would have thought would have all the other nastiness of diarrhea, or the beginning of labor. For pretty much the entire 9 months I've been constipated and relied on Colace for assistance

  • The day before, I had diarrhea and got sick, plus had zero appetite.  I think your body clears itself out before the baby comes from what I remember.

  • I don't have any experience with this, but I hope it's a sign that your LO is on her way. It makes sense that your body would do something like that before labor, so I'll be curious to know what happens in the near future. ;)

  • I had terribly loose stools for about 2 weeks before I went into labor.  I'm not sure if I was eating that poorly (I don't think so) or if my body was getting ready, but it was unpleasant.

  • Yep. And it's not TMI, it's totally normal. Your digestive system flies down in prep for labor.
