I am pretty unhappy in my current career (if you could even call it that...) I've been working retail since graduating from college 4 years ago. I graduated with a degree in English with the hopes of working as an editor for a magazine. Unfortunately, this is right about when the editorial industry collapsed and magazines/newspapers everywhere were letting people go left and right. Writing had always been a passion of mine, but it just didn't work out.
I have marketing experience as well, but it seems that you need at least 3 years experience in the field to even be considered anywhere in this town and no one will even give me a shot.
I am getting frustrated and have been thinking about going back to school to get a Paralegal Studies certificate. It is a 2-year program and can result in a pretty solid career. However, I am concerned that now that we have started TTC that if we got pregnant while I was still in school that financials would be more than tight. The entire program costs about 10k. I think I would be great at this. Last year, 14 of the 17 students that were in the program at the program in out area found full-time employment.
I want a baby more than anything and due to some medical issues I really don't have time on my side to wait, but I feel with working retail (mostly nights and weekends) that I would struggle with finding a balance. I'm feeling pretty conflicted.
Any advice?

Do you have any experience in the industry? Did you do any interships? What seems to be going on these days is a LOT of what you are going through. People are going back to school hoping that an advanced degree will magically grant them happiness. Inst

Going back to school in a totally unrelated field that you have no experience in because you can't find work in your current field is almost never a great idea. In 2 years you run the risk of being exactly where you are now, but with an extr
