Disney in September? child starting kindergarten...

We were looking at going to Disney in September but DD is starting kindergarten this year it's only for 2 1/2 hrs that she will be going for. I know the 2nd week of school they will have Labor day off + the 2 days (thurs and Fri) off for the Jewish holiday. DH now is looking at trying to go that week this way DD only misses 2 days of school vs 5. What do you ladies think? This would be the only year we would be taking her out of school for a trip bc after that any trip will have to be during school vacas or summer time. We can't go in the summer bc DH is having surgery and will not be able to move alot for for about 6 weeks and than needs to start PT. So he would like to try and go September. At 1st I thought this would be easy seeing as its just kindergarten and she goes to pre school now for 2 1/2 hrs and there are kids in her class who's parents take them out of school for a week for trips so it wouldn't be a big deal. But just not sure about kindergarten.

  • We pulled our daughter out of Kindergarten for a month to travel last October.  If it was regular K, I wouldn't have blinked an eye, but she was starting full French immersion.  But then I thought "I'm taking her to France and Morocco.

  • I wouldn't hesitate for kindergarten.  I love going to Disneyworld but we won't go when schools are out because it is just too busy.  So if we want to go, we will have to pull the kids out of school for a bit.

  • I think you will be fine. We took DD the first week of Sept last year (now granted she was only 3.5). We walked on most rides but it was HOT still.

    Have fun!

  • As a Kindergarten teacher, my only concern is with how your child transitions to the new experience of K.  Even though the child has already been to Pre-K it is not an indicator of how they will adjust.  You may have a tough time when you get ba

  • Her 2nd week of school she only has 2 days bc the other 3 are holidays and they are closed. That's why we figured that would be better bc she would only miss 2 days versus going at the end of the month and missing 5 days.
  • Go and enjoy your family time while you can. Missing 2 days of kindergarten is not the end of the world. Kids that age are sponges, and she will quickly pick up on the things she misses in class. She will be fine and have exciting princess stories to tell
  • I have a son in kindergarten right now and I wouldn't hesitate to pull him out of a short school week like that.  If she's only going to miss 2 days, I wouldn't see any issue with it.  I'd be more concerned if she was missing an entire week of c
