FI and I are unfortunately being faced with a strong chance of him being unemployed this June. With a wedding this July we are freaking out quite a bit. Not only will he be losing his job but we will also be loosing our housing.
He is a private school teacher and will be paid until August 15th if he is let go. Can we claim unemployment when he stops working in June or do we wait until the checks stop coming in August?
Are there any cons to him collecting unemployment while he attempts to find work?

He should start looking for a new teaching job for next fall NOW.

IF his checks are prorated to be paid over a 12 month period for a 9 month work contract, my guess is that he can file in June. (those summer checks a

Also, and this is a bit depressing, you may consider backing off some of your wedding and honeymoon plans now if you and your fiance are footing the bills for the big day.
If you aren't already, you can look into doing things for your wedding tha
Thank you. Fortunately we have been very blessed. Our families want to pay most of the wedding and we will be spending out of our pockets about 4 thousand for a 15 thousand dollar wedding. I hate to say it but we would not be able to cancel the wedding
