Myrtle Beach-trip with little ones where to stay

My DH and I are planning to bring our 5 and 2 year old to Myrtle Beach in August.  Any rec's on where to stay and why would be appreciated.  We've never been to Myrtle Beach and it's confusing about the North versus South side.  We would prefer beach front but not with a partying crowd.  We will rent a car and our budget is about 150 a night.  Please advise.

  • I prefer North Myrtle Beach.  Mid and south tend to be more commercialized and more of the partying crowd unless you go south to Garden City or Murrells Inlet.  When we visit, we rent a condo through vrbo or somewhere.  North MB is more res

  • I like North Myrtle Beach as well.  I think Murrells Inlet and Surfside Beach have more options in terms of beachfront rentals. 

    We've stayed at the Caravel in Myrtle and it was great.

  • I heard Dunes Village is good, they have an indoor water park.
