best high interest savings account?

I am looking to open an e-fund account and keep hearing about high interest savings account.  This is an account where I would not ever need the money fast so even if it takes 10+ days to get the money out, that would not matter.

Is one online account any better or more secure/safer than the other?

Also, I saw someone mention they were making 6% in a "retail account" which I am not sure what that is??

Re: best high interest savings account?

  • 1% is still about the most you can get in a normal savings account.

Vanguard has funds you could look into. Potential gains will be higher, there will be some risk, and probably a minimum balance.

  • Just another thought, if you are only interested in savings accounts for security.  You can go to bankrate.com and compare different savings account rates.

Ours is through Mainstay Investments (Affiliated through New York Life), and is a Retail Mutual Fund (invests in corporate bonds). It is not a savings account, and is an investment.
