Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge Area

DH and I are going to be staying in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area for 2 nights towards the end of June. I'm starting to look at hotels. Does anyone recommend any hotels in the Gatlinburg area? We're not wanting to spend a fortune on hotels, but definitely don't want the dirt cheap hotels either.
With that being said - is there anything we HAVE To do while down there? We'll only have about 1 1/2 days in Gatlinburg most likely.
Before we get to Gatlinburg, we'll be staying in Robbinsville, NC (1 - 1 1/2 hours south I believe), and we'll be with a bunch of his friends. We're taking the motorcycles down and going to be spending most of the days (Saturday-Tuesday) riding the bikes.
