So Caileigh was riding her scooter Thursday night & the back wheel must have got stuck on the edge of our driveway - her leg twisted, the scooter twisted & down she went & fractured her tibia. I couldn't believe it - I drove up the hill and see her lying in the grass with a makeshift splint on her leg (b/c DH couldn't just call 911).
Poor kid - we were at children's for 5 hrs & she has a long leg cast (purple) for at least 4 weeks. She's in so much pain & it's itching like mad. I feel so bad for her b/c there's nothing you can do ! I can only say "be brave, be strong" so many times. I just thank God our kids are healthy b/c I'm not sure I could handle a kid that had a serious illness.
So watch those scooters - the drs said scooters & trampolines are biggest cause of traumas in kids. And pls say a prayer for quick healing for Caileigh's leg !
Eta - it won't let me type what I really want to say abt the scooters!

Re: Scooters...
I hope your dd's leg heals quickly and she can get back to playing. I'm sorry she has to be stuck in that cast just as the weather's getting nice. I had no idea scooters were a big injury maker. I love that your dh made a splint, lol.
What??! I would have never figured scooters to be that bad! Poor bugger...
(I'm laughing at your DH, though!)
I totally hope DD heals quickly and as painlessly as possible!
My three sons!

Poor thing! I hope she has a quick, painless and itchless recovery in her near future.
Thanks for the heads up on scooters, I feel so behind in this, but we really haven't ventured past the tricycle in outdoor mobility. I know
Poor thing! I hope she heals quickly.
We have scooters, and I can see the potential that they have for causing accidents. Now I know how my mom felt when my brother was in to skateboarding!
Wow! Poor girl! I know, I always think the same when my kids are sick... I don't know how they or I would deal with an actual serious illness! I'm so bad with sick/injured people.
Thanks for the heads up about the scooters too. Of course that's
