Paint in an L shaped room, WWYD

So we have this family room in our lower level off of the kitchen.  It had hideous paneling. I primed it this weekend so we can paint it and now I am second guessing my plan. The whole L shaped space was going to be SW slate tile, a greyish blue. Expecting it to look like this on the walls.

So part of the L shaped room is the family room, it will be this blue. But then there is the back part where EJ's playroom is and I am thinking it could be too dark back there with the limited windows. Would you

1. not care if the space seemed dark. It is a playroom, and the paneling was dark before. Don't do anything to draw the eye to the mess.

2. Go with a lighter shade of the blue

3. introduce a second color (perhaps the green that I planned on using as accents in the blue room) and make it pop.
