Walt Disney World Marathon

In January of 2014, my mom and I are going to Orlando to run in the Walt Disney Marathon.  We will be there from Friday through Monday, and the race is early on Saturday (we will have the 2nd half of the day to do things).

What would everyone recommend we do while we are down there? It is just her and I (ages 25 & 50). She went to Disney on their honeymoon 32 years ago, and I have never been. We will be running through Magic Kindom and Epcot for the race, but what would everyone recommend we do? She isn't into rides, and I love Harry Potter so I wouldn't mind to hit up that theme park.

Also, any recommendations on where to stay and is 4 days long enough or should we go longer?

  • Love Disney, rides or no rides, but if you are into Harry Potter, that's at Universal Studios. You can stay at Disney and take a cab to Universal for a day. We took the kids there for Christmas, and the Harry Potter world was a lot of fun. JK Rowling had
  • Which Disney property would you recommend? Budget wise, we're hoping with middle to lower price range if possible. Although if there is a hotel that would be great for 2 non-kid adults then we would be interested.

  • In terms of Disney resorts - I love Coronado Springs.  Since you aren't traveling with kids, I always feel this is the most 'adult friendly' hotel because it is attached to the conference center.

  • You can also stay at a Downtown Disney hotel. They are not as "kiddie" oriented. Many now offer free shuttle to/from the airport. You can walk to Downtown Disney and catch the free busses to/from the various parks from there. If you're not SO into ride
