What to do?

H and I have officially pulled the goalie out of the net, and are trying to get pregnant. So exciting!

We've decided not to stress about it these first few months and just "see what happens" because there are quite a few events coming up that I wouldn't mind being pregnant at, but also would be able to enjoy a little more if I wasn't. One of those is a giant horse race here in two in two weeks. It's lots of drinking and lawn games and a really great time. My plan was to take a pregnancy test that morning, and if it's negative, feel free to relax and have a few drinks. Well now H is concerned that I could be pregnant at that time but not test positive yet, and doesn't think I should be drinking. I don't really care that much, but I do have a problem with his logic that I should basically stop drinking from now until I get pregnant... at which time I also won't be drinking for the next year or so... "just in case".

Thoughts?

Re: What to do?

  • Congrats on officially starting to try! Enjoy! ;)

I don't drink, so abstaining from alcohol was never an issue when I was pregnant or trying, so it's easy for me to say. That being said though, I will give my two cents... I personally don't get t

  • I sort of agree wit ldawn as well.  I don't drink that much.  When I do "drink", it's usually just a wine cooler or two.  Now, if we're staying at an All-Inclusive on vacation, I do drink more than that.

With that being said, I h

  • It's a personal decision. Our pregnancy was unplanned and I was in a period of life where I was drinking pretty heavily. Once we found out, I stopped but it never had any effect on the kiddo. That's not to say I would party on if we were TTC, but I don

  • All I really drink is an occasional glass of wine nowadays due to health. I really would not worry about a glass of wine with food a couple of times during the 2ww. Abstaining from alcohol all together during the 2ww is a good idea if it puts both of y

I go back and forth.  I'm not much of a drinker, so at the beginning when we were trying, I wouldn't drink at all during the 2WW.  But then after a few months, I decided to do the 'drink til it's pink'.  But even then, it wasn't too much

  • Technically the baby isn't feeding off what you consume until about 5 weeks along.  I'm probably the wrong person to ask because I found out I was pg at 9 weeks and had drank a few glasses of wine here and there that entire time.  I think you'll

    Exactly

  • I know I had a drink before testing to confirm I was pregnant. I wouldn't be binging, but I don't know that I would totally abstain either. You've got to be able to enjoy life too.
