Hi everyone! I stalk the bump a lot, and someone recently recommended this board if you have concerns about money - so here I am!
Me and my husband are trying to figure out when we can have a baby. At this point, it's really all about being financially ready - we're ready otherwise. Is anyone else in that situation? It's frustrating. We both want a baby in our hearts and feel ready to welcome one, but we don't want to be struggling to get by and be able to properly support a little one. I'm in grad school right now (paid for) and DH has a steady job, but it doesn't pay very well. We have A LOT of student loan debt - about 150,000 total - and about 90,000 of it is private loans. We also have a mortgage and a car payment.
We're not really sure where to go from here. I know I need to somehow make more money (currently working part-time), but that's tough to do while I'm in school without getting overwhelmed and my studies suffering. I know people have recommended Dave Ramsey - is that a good first step? We want to feel like we're moving forward and not just living paycheck to paycheck with all this debt around us.
Thank you!!!
