So, I bought a chambray shirt, but now I am at a complete loss as to what to wear with it. I was thinking colored denim, although the two pairs of colored jeans that I have are a dark teal-ish and dark purple-ish color - and when I paired them with the shirt, it didn't look right. I also saw some chambray shirts paired with regular denim, but I tried that and it just looked weird. (I think as a child of the 80's I am cautious of the all denim look.)
Any other suggestion on what I can try to wear the shirt with?
This happens all the time - I see a look that I like, but when I try it myself, I feel like I can't pull it off!

And you can wear it with jeans, the trick is to do a nice dark denim so that there is a contrast. Don't want to look like your wearing a WV tuxedo.
Also, wearing it under a sweater or cardigan can help break it up and feel less matchy-matchy
