crazy 2nd ultrasound!
I'm sure you guys are tired of hearing me talk about this.. but I have to share. Here's what I posted on my BMB.
After my appointment last week, I was very nervous about my ultrasound today. Last week the baby was measuring 8 days behind based on my O date.
I told DH to come with me (he didn't come last week), because I was preparing for the worst.
They start the ultrasound... and I couldn't tell what I was seeing, I just wanted to see the heartbeat. The ultrasound tech was moving everything too quickly that I couldn't see the flicker and started getting nervous. But then the dr said "There's the heartbeat." Good, glad you see it!
Then he got a weird look on his face, and leaned in towards the screen. I look at the ultrasound tech, and she's doing the same thing. I'm thinking, oh no, something's wrong. Then he says, "I think there's an identical twin in there."
My response, "Nu uh". He says, "Uh huh".
I look at DH, OMG.
They measure baby A, 6w5d. Up exactly 1 week from last week, yay! Heart rate up to 119. They measure baby B, 6w3d.. not too bad! Then they started looking for the heart rate.. and after comparing mine, they realize it's only at 50.
So, he thinks baby b is just going to be absorbed. And he almost thinks that's best because he said it looks like they are sharing a sac, which could compromise the pregnancy.
I have an appointment with my OB tomorrow, so he said she'd want to take a look. I'm so glad DH came with me! That would've been way to much to relay to him!

Oh my goodness! Well this all sounds like good news -- kind of bittersweet about baby b -- the human body is such a weird thing. And very glad your H came with you!
