Getting another interview, they really like me right?

I received an email to coordinate another interview with a company that I REALLY want to work for. The location in great, the company is incredible and the position is just a perfect fit for me.

As part of the email the HR manager said they were impressed with me and "feel you would be a great fit with the team." I may be just reading into things but I am extremely hopeful that this means that this whole long process will be leading to an offer soon.

I'm so glad I'm old and married and don't have to date, interviewing is driving me insane enough!

Re: Getting another interview, they really like me right?

  • To be honest, I feel like the "we were impressed, you'd fit right in" line is just something HR people feed candidates to keep them interested. I've interviewed for MANY jobs and heard similar things. Don't count your chickens before they hatch, the job isn't yours till you've signed a contract.

Obviously it's a good sign that they want to set up another interview though - goodluck!

  • Thanks, that's actually exactly what I need to hear. I've been trying to be cautiously optimistic, but I was really reading into that line. I really want to stay grounded and level headed.
  • FI has been hearing this a lot lately and it has been damaging his self esteem. PP was right about the chickens but I really hope you get this job!

Being called back for a second interview is great news! I say be optimistic but don't let it beat you down too hard! Best of luck!

  • Same thing happened to me during an interview. I interviewed with HR then she told me she really wanted me to meet the person I'd be working for. We even waited for him to get out of his meeting after 5pm. I got along great with him, and he said I would be a really good fit. They called the next day to set up a second interview. Unfortunately, my second interview did not go as well. The guy flat out told me he was about to leave the company, we didn't really connect, and he had to take a phone call in the middle of the interview (he never came back). I guess my point is that even if the first and second interview went amazingly well, you still have to get past the next interview. Good luck though! They wouldn't be interviewing you if they didn't think you could do the job. Now you've just got to charm them and convince them that they'll like working with you more than the other candidates.

  • I agree with above comments. All I can suggest you is keep faith and try your best to clear up all the rounds of interview they schedule.
  • I agree with others - you should be excited, but proceed with caution. A company recently flew me out for a 5 hour interview, I had lunch with my potential supervisors, I knew it was down to me and one other person... They went with the other person who was an internal candidate.

I've heard plenty of times that they were impressed with me, and I've heard that I'd potentially be a good fit, but never that I would be a good fit. So, that is definitely a good sign that you're at least one of their top candidates.

  • Final outcome was a great kick in the pants. Lots of time spent on interviews and preparing a presentation for one of them. I'm the ideal candidate and they would hire me..... if they hadn't decided to cancel the position. They decided to hire for a different position first. I'm so disappointed that I wasted all that time proving that I was the best candidate for a position they weren't even going to hire for after a SIX MONTH process of interviewing.
