Build a Home in Houston

We are looking to move to Houston and are interested in a new area where KB Homes is building very reasonably priced homes. I've read some mixed reviews about KB Homes. Does anyone know anything about these builders, specifically in Houston? Skyview Neighborhood?

Do you mean Skyview Forest Trails?  The houses are inexpensive and cute but it's not the best area in my opinion. I too have heard both good and bad reviews regarding KB Homes.
  • Yes, the Skyview Forest Trails neighborhood....any reason why you don't think it's the best area? We like that it feels a bit "away" from the city and it's so close to Pearland shopping area. Thanks for the feedback!
  • I don't have any insider information about the neighborhood, but generally KBHomes in texas are known to build lower quality homes, other builders to consider would be Lennar, Pulte, and DR Horton, those are known for better quality builders that also build entry level homes.
  • I am building a KB home in Houston..We are building out in Cypress. PM me if you have an questions! I would love to help!

I actually live in Pearland not far from Town Center stores, I used to live close to Skyview Forest (Almeda area) and then moved to Shadow Creek subdivison in Pearland when I got married. I would suggest Cypress, Pearland, Manvel or Fresno where it's calmer and less crimes.

Me personally, when we were house searching, I didn't like seeing houses that had lots of cars parked outside (multi families I assume), I would pass by during rainy day to check for flooding, went online to see crime and sex offender reports and passed by at night to make sure there wasn't a lot of teens hanging out in the streets, loud music, etc.

  • My boss lives in Pearland and commutes downtown every day. It's not a horrible drive, and even though I don't know much about the area, I hear Pearland itself is nice. You may want to consider that over Skyview. We built a new Lennar home two years ago and have been very happy. Even our pest control guy commented on the good construction. Our electricity bill has never been over $100 and has even been as low as $40.
