DH and I will be in Gatlinburg for about 2 or 2 1/2 days at the end of June. I have never been before.
What are some highly recommended attractions? We like a little bit of everything - outdoorsy stuff, scenic stuff, shopping (well, me at least), museums (if they're really interesting), etc. We're staying close to the strip I believe.
Also, what are some really good restaurants in the area that you recommend eating at? Price wise, I would think we would like stay around the Texas Roadhouse/Outback/O'Charley's price range. If there's a really good restaurant that's a tad more, I would be interested in checking that out as well.
Thanks!
Re: Gatlinburg
If you're staying on the strip, you can walk up and down both sides for a lot of local shops and restaurants (some chain as well). There are really great outlets on the other side of Pigeon Forge toward Sevierville. I would look in to some
I second Cades Cove most likely you will see bear this time of year. If you like to gamble you can drive through the Great Smoky Mtn National Forest and go to Cherokee to the casino. Its about a 30 min drive.
Eat at the Apple barn for breakfas
There is gorgeous hiking. I've never done Cades Cove (but I've been dying to!!) My husband and I usually drive up to Newfound Gap and hike a little bit of the Appalachian Trail. Clingman's Dome is a little farther up the way and is gorgeous as well.</p
We took the cable car up to the top of the mountain as well - they also do a chair lift ride up, but it was raining that day. Not a whole lot up there other than an arcade and a restaurant, but we went up mostly to see the black bears.
