Last night as I was putting Mason to bed, I found a tick on his head. I happened to rub his head, and felt a bump. When I first looked at it, I thought it was a scab, until I looked closer, and saw 4 legs. It was so gross! Being the calm, cool, and collected parents that we are, we were both too freaked out to try and remove it ourselves, so Rich took him to Med Express. They removed it, and told us to be on the look out for a fever or rash. (Garrett was already sleeping when this happened, but then I got paranoid and went to check him too - no ticks!)
So all is good, I am just totally grossed out and kept feeling like I had bugs crawling over me all night.
The Dr. also said that Mason was the 4th person she saw that day with a tick - so be on the look out!
Re: PSA: Tick season is here!
GAH!!!!!!!! I hate this season.
And like you, Jake having a tick resulted in a trip to Med Express for us, too. Some things are better left to the experts (and are well worth a copay!)
Jake - 1.15.08
Liam - 5.17.11
Also, my head is now itchy.
Jake - 1.15.08
Liam - 5.17.11
We have already removed several from Bruce (white dog=tick attraction) and one from Nathan.
The Tick Twister & Ticked Off
I hate ticks and have zero experience with them. Which is pretty surprising since I have had dogs most of my life. Thanks for the warning! I am not so good at giving the dogs flea/tick preventative because it seems to bother Mo's skin and he is insane
My three sons!
Dd found one on one of the outdoor toys last week and brought it to me. Poor kid, she thought she brought me a lady bug and she ended up getting stripped down and having a full body inspection.
