I'm not sure how to go about this. So please help.
I work on my days scedualed until I physically can't work anymore (think 7-9 hours of never sitting). I worked a 10 hour day once already. The hospital is so busy that to get my work done at a decent time I have to work through lunch. That's with 2 people working. I also said on my availability and have voiced that I'm available Monday to Friday. This makes it so I do not have to ask for time off and gives me two days in a row to rest if we do not go visit family/friend (3 hours away).
But because the hospital is short staffed (by our company) they scedualed me for weekends. I said that would be ok (verbally) until we get more people. Well we have a new lady being trained. I got the joy of training her some yesterday. Not my job, especially since I've only been there 2ish weeks and was not properly trained myself. There's more crap management stuff but this is what's peeving me now (and stressing me out).
I really enjoy what I'm doing. It's rewarding and in my career field. I get better at it every day I work. The clients are great inso many ways.
So how do I go about requesting a 4th person? Or to have my availability be honered? Having 4 people would solve that problem easily (two people need to work every day). I asked for two weekends off in advance and they made a stink.
Another couple of things. We do not receive our scedual until Sunday night!! For example this Sunday 21st I will find out when I work Monday 22nd to Sunday 28th. And it's always changing! Never the same days off. So how can I ask for a reliable scedual (permanent days)? That way I can at least plan my weeks in advance even if I do not get "assigned" my days until Sunday? Or ask to find out a week or two in advance?
The other photographer who stared working before me would like all this too. Our manager is never around. I saw her briefly yesterday but it wasn't a good time to bring any of this up. I hate to call or email but I prefer email (paper trail and I can colect my thoughts).
What to do?!
Re: Work Woes (long & advice needed)
If you can't set up a meeting, I would definitely email because I am a firm believer in the paper trail.
That seems very strange they can't give you a schedule more than 1 day in advance for the week. That's very poor management. Hopefully you c
I think that now there's a 3rd person starting you can say to the manager something like "since we have the additional person now, I will be sticking to my original availability which is Mon - Fri." They can't argue that since you had told them u
Thank you for the advice ladies. It's greatly appreciated and I will follow it.
I have texted (manager was texting me first about how we have to finish no matter how long it took us ,blah, blah, blah) and I said ok I will do m
