Anyone been to Outer Banks lately?

Hi! I was wondering when the best time is to start the drive down. When I was married before I think we use to leave at 1 then drive through the night. It's been like 10 yrs so I can't quite remember!

MH has to take sleep meds so leaving middle of night not really an option. Was thinking at 4am but wouldn't we end up being stuck in traffic? Probably leaving at 6am would be even worse...ugh.  Any input would be great. Thanks :)

As long as you are across the bridge by noon there is no traffic.  I think 2 is a bit late.   We usually break it up into 2 days.  We, however, go with friends who live outside of DC, so we go there and then straight down 95, so our
