MobyWrap- Yay or Nay?

I'm thinking about getting a carrier to wear around the house with M. We have the Ergobaby carrier but it's really bulky to just get some things done like dishes or laundry. Do you all like or not like this product? Or do you have any other recommendations?

Re: MobyWrap- Yay or Nay?

  • I liked the Moby Wrap for around the house, but it is a bit confusing to use/wrap at first.  Once we got the hang of it, DD would chill and fall asleep in it so it allowed my hands to be free in order to get some stuff done which was nice.  I don't think I'd ever use it outside the house (and it doesn't sound like that's your plan either), but I'm not really sure that it's all that much less bulky than an Ergo in the sense that the baby is pretty much the bulky constraint and it was still a bit hard to do certain things with that extra protrusion out in front of me but I think this would be the case anytime you're wearing baby.

  • Love it! After I did it twice I can do it with my eyes closed. It's very comfortable too.

  • M and I love the Moby! I got the hang of wrapping it really quickly. Last summer I would put M in it and go outside to water flowers. Once she got bigger and could sit up I started hip carrying her. I actually wore her to a fall festival last year and got a bunch of compliments/questions. Baby wearing isn't a big thing around here so you don't see it often.

I just bought a mei tai from a friend, but I haven't received it yet. I can let you know how I like it once I try it out.

  • I prefer the Boba wrap. I like that you wrap it tight to your body. I have not tried the K'tan, but that would be the other one I might consider.

  • DD and I loved the Moby!  I preferred it to the Ergo for around the house and quick errands until she got too big for it.

  • I've used the Moby (and many other carriers) with kids I've nannied for, and I like the Moby the best.  It is by far the most comfortable carrier I've used.  We have one to use with DS.

  • L and I love to Moby it up. I don't wear her around the apartment anymore, but I like using it if we're going out to the grocery store or running errands. I put it on before we leave the house and then put her in it once we get there and out of the car. It's very comfortable!
  • The moby looked confusing so I bought a baby ktan and love it.

  • I also have the k'tan and really like it. So easy to use. The only downside is that since it's not adjustable and we got it in my size DH can't wear it.
