Just trying to post since things were so quiet yesterday.
My AW: I did my C25K run last night (week 2) and since the weather was so perfect and I was feeling great, I decided to keep going. I ended up doing a little over 4 miles. I did the C25K the whole time. I use the app so when I came to the end, I just restarted. This is my first time since starting that I actually did 5K since my time is too slow to hit a 5K in the time frame. So yay for doing the 5K and beyond! What I'm most excited about is that I did the C25K the whole time. Last week I accidentally did week 2 on day 3 and the 90 secs of running felt like too much. But last night it felt completely fine even 4 miles in!
On to my questions...how long should I test out my new running shoes? Do you feel like you need an adjustment period with new shoes? I went to a local running store over the weekend to get a new pair. I have foot issues to begin with. I severely overpronate which causes tendonitis in my arch. I wear braces to help and have orthotics I should wear but dont (hate them).
Anyways, the guy definitely noticed the over pronationation and gave me shoes to try on. Honestly out of all of them I didn't like most and did like the 1 asics pair I ended up with. But comparing it with my old asics pair at home, I don't feel like it supports as much. I feel like it lets me over pronate more. But I'm also a complete idiot when it comes to shoes, so maybe I just need to get used to it and it's really okay? I didn't really have any pain yet (have worn on 2 runs), but have some of the stretched feeling in my arch that preceeds pain. But I don't know if that would happen regardless after going 4 miles last night. I'm thinking I may wear my old pair and be more aware to compare? And then go back to the store and ask? Ugh, I hate shoes! My old pair isn't that old but I wear them for zumba and they are a smaller size then Im sure I should be wearing for running (I prefer them tight when doing zumba). So I'm not sure if I will have issues with them running just because of that! My pair I have been running with are super old so I don't really want to stick with those.
I don't know! I am always terrible at picking out shoes. They feel fine in store and then I hate them when I wear them. But like I said, the rest didn't even feel good in store!
Re: Runners: AW and shoe questions
Great job on the run! I found that having a mileage goal in addition to the C25k/10k work out helped me improve.
It only took me a couple runs to get used to my shoes, but I don't have the same issues as you. Could you take the shoes
Well doing a little research and seems that my old pair has been discontinued and the pair I bought is the replacement. There are a lot of complaints out there. 1 review specifically said that it is fine for mild to moderate over pronaters but not for
I would definitely go back to the store, have them watch you run in them, and explain what's going on. And consider using the orthotics if they help with the overpronation.
