Hopefully last credit ???'s

We got a little impatient and had our credit ran again yesterday. I'm up from a 663 to a 686. My husband though is still sitting at a 617!!! It didn't budge a single point!

Our mortgage lady referred us to a credit restoration company to see if they can help us. Due to the fact that they want to charge us a $90 start up fee and then another $60 per month, we declined.

I told DH that I would work on it myself. Today I signed up at Experian so I can dispute a few things online (quickest way).

My question is that both Experian and TransUnion are reporting on the same account/item, do I have to make a dispute with each bureau???

Also, there are some companies (3 to be exact) that are listed under the "Inquiries" that we have no record of dealing with. Would it be worth our time to dispute these or do these have no impact on our score???

Thanks again ladies!!!

  • I don't want to give you completely wrong information here, but I used to work at Trans Union years ago, in the mortgage department. It was my job to clean up people's files. Trans Union gets their data from Equifax and there used to be a 3rd credit co

  • You would need to dispute the issues with all three credit agencies. My husband had to do it. It sucks because you have to pay each agency but if the dispute clears out anything outstanding it is worth it in the end.

  • Wait...you have to pay to dispute stuff on your credit file? I was under the impression that you don't have to pay for this? Again, I worked for Trans Union like 20 years ago, so I was not aware they make you pay. That sucks, but I guess it's worth it

  • You do not have to pay to dispute items. Some companies may charge you but you can do it yourself online through the website or with form letters you can google.  There really isn't a need to pay someone to do it.
