Ms. or Mrs.?

I have not changed my name, can I still use Mrs? I am excited to be married and want to show it off a bit...but since I am still Linnae A. and hubby is Carl B...Can I be Mrs. A? Or do I have to be Ms. A? This wouldn't bother me (nor would the name change) as much if I weren't a teacher...I feel most jobs your first name will suffice, but I am faced with my name change, or lack there of, 100 times a day. Thoughts?

  • I haven't changed my name either.  Mrs. R would remind me of my mom and my grama though.

  • I really think it would be up to you and what you want to go by. I would think Mrs. would be fine.

  • I'm not changing my name, so I go by Ms. Nic MaidenName. Most people have respected this, others are choosing to call me Mrs. DH LastName, which is kind of pissing me off because I feel like some people are doing it on purpose : /

Pretty soon, I'll have my Ph.D. and I'll be Dr. Nic Maiden Name : )

I would go by whatever you want to be called...it's your name, so it should be whatever you want it to be.

  • Thanks! As a teacher...i get all kinds of things...and answer to them all. Ms. maiden name, Ms. new name, Mrs. maiden name, Ms. new name....and Mrs. old and new name..., like a hybrid, not a hyphen...that one always make me laugh!
