HEPA air filters

How often do you clean yours? Are they easy to clean?

Someone told me you can get a shock from them even when they are unplugged while cleaning them. Is this true?

Re: HEPA air filters

  • I'm going to sound silly, but what is a HEPA air filter?

It's a special air filter system that removes 97-almost 100% of dander/dust. They are great for people who have pets or allergies in general. These filters work very well. Anyone considering getting "rid" of a pet due to allergies must buy one of these and KEEP their pet. You just have to make sure you buy the proper size for the area you need.

  • Don't you just change them out?

The only ones we have are on our vaccuum and furnace. I change the vaccuum one once a year, and the furnace filter once a month.

You can change them out or vacuum them but I was told you can get a shock when you take them out or clean them even then the machine is off. A cousin of mine told me this. Is this true?

I wouldn't think so. My furnace is usually off when I change the filter, and my vaccuum is unplugged. Haven't gotten shocked yet.
