Belly Button Piercings

Do any of you have your belly button pierced? I've had mine pierced for a little over 4 years now. I already changed my ring to a plastic maternity one, but it's starting to get really uncomfortable. I'm not sure if its the plastic that's bothering me, or just having a ring in. Im going to take it out, because I really don't want it to hurt or stretch, but was wondering if any of you know if the hole will close or not?  I'm really hoping it won't, so that I can put a ring in after baby's here, but I'm afraid that it will...Anyone have any experience?

Re: Belly Button Piercings

  • I had mine pierced for about 10 yrs before getting pregnant and ended up just taking it out with the intention of not putting it back in.  I haven't tried, but there is still definitely a visible hole, however I don't think it goes all the way through.  Had I put it back in a while back I think I still could've gotten it through.

  • There is no way I would be able to put a belly ring in after having a baby. My belly button is definitely not the same.

I think it would close, I had mine done for three years and after 2 days of it being out, the hole closed.

  • I just took it out and I feel 100 times better. I'll just keep my fingers crossed that my belly button goes back to semi-normal after baby and that the hole doesn't close. Otherwise I guess I could always try to repierce it if I wanted to, and if I can. Well see. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

    Thanks ladies!

  • I had my belly button ring for about 5 years before I took it out. That was 8 years ago. The hole is still there and I can put rings in it. I am only 6.5 weeks pregnant so I don't know how pregnancy will change it, though I can't imagine it will close. I'm actually afraid of it stretching to a giant ugly hole.
  • I had a belly ring for 12 years and took it out around 5 weeks ago. I thought the pregnancy rings would end up being uncomfortable. I'm interested in seeing if it closes, too!

  • I had mine pierced for a couple of years and it closed up just fine. I just have a little red dot where the hole used to be. Granted, I haven't had a full term pregnancy to see what the scar will do, but so far so good.

  • Yeah, my belly button looks a lot different than pre pregnancy.  I hope it goes back to normal soon though.

  • Mine was pierced for seven years. It closed pretty quickly after taking out the ring.

  • I had mine pierced for 5 years before I took the ring out.  then I had the ring out for 3 years before getting pregnant.

Now I can still get a normal gage earing through it (not the wide gage that usually is in belly button piercings). TMI probably, but I stick a normal gage (rounded) earing through it every month or so to get the dead skin out.

So, it likely won't close all the way, but the full gage you had before might not fit easily.
