Re: Open Letter Thursdays
Dear IRS,
I HATE YOU. GO SUCK A CHODE.
Sincerely, angry taxpayer
Dear people who get paid under that table and don't pay taxes but then b!tch about big businesses who don't pay taxes (someone I know and don't love who shall remain nameless),
YOU ARE A FLUCKING HYPOCRITE. And it chaps my a$$ that while I bust mine to pay 5K every year, you get away with claiming no income. I also have no idea how you expect to refi your house and buy a new car. I secretly hope you get audited.
Sincerely, Currently on hold with the IRS and applying for part time jobs to pay it off
Dear H's back,
Please feel better soon.
Sincerely, a worried wife
Dear work
I hope improvements are made after the very professional and non blaming emails I write are read.
Your hard worker
Dear H
I wish I could help you with your stressful day. Sadly I can't code. I'll find another way to make you smile. Hopefully.
Your loving wife
Dear allergies,

Dear husband -
Why did you lie to me? Did you really think I would never find out?

Yeah, it is....DH used to smoke cigarettes. He had tried to quit, but then started back up again. I think 3 years ago this month, he quit for good. Or so I thought. Well, I had some suspicions that he might be smoking again, but I didn't know. I asked him a couple of times, and he flat out told me he wasn't smoking.
Today, I had left the gym and was going to go get my oil changed in my car. I was talking to him on the phone, and he told me he went to restaurant with a coworker to have a beer after work. He said he would be leaving shortly. I was driving by on the way to get my oil changed, and I decided to pull in a parking lot next door, and wait for him to leave. If he was smoking, I knew he would smoke one before getting in his car. Well, sure enough, him and his co-worker was leaving, and I saw him smoking.
I sent him a text and told him he was a f3cking liar. He tried calling me a couple of times, and the 3rd time he called me, I was finishing up getting my oil changed, so I called him back. He asked what he was lying about and I said smoking. At first he tried to deny it (since he had absolutely no clue I had been watching), and I told him he was smoking when he left the restaurant. At first, he seemed mad I was "spying" on him, but he got over real fast and realized he had finally been "caught".
I asked him tonight how long he had been smoking and hiding it from me, and he said awhile. I asked again how long, and he said 2 years. I was flabbergasted. He said he had only quit smoking for a year, and started back up about 2 years ago. Obviously he doesn't smoke that much, since he never smoked around me.
He told me he didn't want to tell me because he was ashamed that he was smoking and didn't want to disappoint me. I can't believe he hid it for 2 years, and I never knew. I'm guessing he just mainly smokes at work - he gets stressed out at work, and I'm sure that's what caused him to start back up again.
He definitely knows I'm upset that he lied to me. I asked him if he was lying to me about anything else or hiding anything else from me. He said he wasn't. I am 99.9% sure I believe him - I do think he is ashamed he is smoking again.

My DH likes to tell little white lies to get out of getting in trouble. Like one morning I woke up and the house was warm. I asked him if he had remembered to turn down the heat last night and he said he had. When I went downstairs and found the thermostat set to the usual 71 for day, I asked him again and he said he had turned it up when he got home (which he never does). But then I said, well, the actual temp of the house right now is 71 and there's no way the house would have warmed up from 65 that fast. So then he finally admitted to forgetting to turn it down the night before, but lying 'cause he didn't want to get into trouble. But then of course I just get more mad at him for lying.
I always find out though so I don't know why he bothers! :P
That really sucks. Hopefully he wont do that again. And it is a good thing that all he was hiding was smoking. There are way worse things.
Not sure if I've told this before or not. If so sorry in advance. H smoked before we met (in high school) and I was unaware of this. He told himself he would quite if we started dating. We did and he quite for a while. Things got stressful with me and my family for him (nothing he did or didn't do it's just my family being their crazy selfs) and he started smoking to help him get through it. Then he stopped again. I found a cig that fell out of the box well after he had stopped again. I very angrily confronted him (we are still in high school) and he told me about his smoking history and how he was afraid to tell me. I told him if he ever felt like he wanted to smoke again or was going to to tell me. Then a few years later H's ferret died. He called me up and told me he was wanting to go to the store to buy cigarettes. I said I don't like you smoking but I understand, I'm sorry your ferret died, I'm here for you, I love you and I am ok with you smoking because you told me. Thank you. He was so surprised I said ok. Him being honest made all the diference. Honesty makes all the difference.
