moms of kids with ear tubes
Liam has another ear infection; this is his 3rd since tubes (which I know can still happen and it's normal) but the previous ones have all drained for maybe 2 or 3 days then cleared up fairly quickly.
This one started on Saturday morning (we started the drops that day) & is still gushing. Normal? am I being paranoid? I'm having visions of a ruptured eardrum or something. I'm going to call the office in a bit, but just wanted to get some feedback.
Re: moms of kids with ear tubes
Poor little guy.... and poor mom.
Madi honestly never had that happen.... Sorry. Hope the doc office can help!
I think it's probably normal, but I would probably follow up with the pedi or even the ENT just to see if maybe there's a different course of treatment.
Mason only had one ear infection after he had tubes put in, and it drained a lot! (like gross a lot) It seemed to clear up, then a few days after he finished the antibiotics it started to drain again and that time it was draining blood. They gave us some ear drops but because there was so much drainage/blood the pedi couldn't get a good look at his ear, so we went back to the ENT. Apparently Mason's tube was half in/half out, so he had to remove it. Since then he hasn't had any ear infections or other issues.

Just here to commiserate. My guy gets infections with his tubes that seem to always require oral antibiotics. His ears don't seem to drain - maybe that is the problem. I think I need to get him back to the ENT when he is healthy to see what the situation is with his tubes because he has had three in the last six months (I think). Boo.
thank you for asking! I took him in this morning, his left tube looked great, his right ear (the infected one) was such a mess and swollen, full of gunk that she can't find the tube
so, she said it either fell out in the middle of all of this, or it's just hidden behind all of the infection. He also has a sinus infection, so she put him on omnicef to wipe out (hopefully) both of the infections, and had me schedule an appointment with the ENT at the end of the month to see what she wants to do about the tube.

Poor little guy! Hope he's feeling better soon!!
I know, I feel terrible for him
One cute thing that came from today was that they gave him 2 stickers for being so good (seriously, he's a pro in the pediatrician's office, they always comment on it) so he picked cookie monster & elmo, and picked out a lion king one "for my bwutha". I took him to school after the appointment and he insisted on taking Jake's sticker into his classroom, then when we went to his room, he ran in and all of the kids gathered around him to see his stickers, like he was a rockstar. He was pointing to the stickers on his chest going "Liam bwave! Liam bwave!"
