QOTD 5/6

If you could go back to school for anything, what would it be?  It can be practical or not.

  • I LOVE to bake so I would probably go to pastry school. I have no artistic ability so I'm positive I would flunk the decorating parts, but it would still be fun.

  • I plan on going back, but I can't decide what for.  If someone could just go ahead and tell me what to go for...

  • My undergrad degree is in Neuroscience...my (soon-to-be) Ph.D. will be in Pharmacology.

If I could do it all again, I would have gone to grad school for health policy. I probably wouldn't change my undergrad major...I do love the brain (dork alert!). But, I have no desire to continue lab research beyond my Ph.D. I'm trying to shift to science policy, but the Ph.D. jobs in science policy are a) hard to get without doing a science policy fellowship and b) since everyone is getting out of academic research due to funding cuts, the fellowships are crazy competitive

It really stinks to be the educated and still worry about finding a job : /

  •  I'm honestly not sure. Probably not education (which is what my degree is in). Maybe photography or event planning.  this is a question I've been trying to figure out the past few months :)

Well I am going back for pharmacy assistant...but it's more out of necessity than anything.  I hate school and don't do well at it so I wouldn't go back just for the heck of it.

  • If I had money I would be a professional student lol. I'm in my 2nd undergrad degree. The first one is in Biology and now I'm in Nursing school. I still plan to do my Nurse Practioner (which is an 18 month Masters-equivalent). And then I don't know. Originally I wanted to be a doctor, and if I could be ANYTHING it would be that. Or an Astronaut.

  • If I could to do it over, I would have gone for Psychology or Psychiatry.  I really like helping people through their problems and it has always interested me why people think, act, and do the things they do.

I really don't know. There's a few masters programs I've thought about applying for, but it's never quite been right.

What a great question...I'm actually seriously considering it now.  I seriously HATE what I studied in school and hate my job.  I am so unhappy with how my life has turned out as far as career goes.  I studied accounting, got my CPA, and am working as an accountant....but I hate it.  The money isn't even worth it, and it's really not as much money as I was led to believe in college.  I feel tricked.

If I could go back and do it all again, I would go back and study animal behavior or zoology or something.  My dream has always been to work with animals.  I think I am going to leave this accounting bs behind and start all over again.  Just have to figure out how financially we can do this but I cannot continue working in this field for the rest of my life....That I do know.

DON'T DO IT!  Haha.  I'm serious....

Finance might be ok, but I highly advise against accounting.  Unless you REALLY REALLY love it.  :|

Haha I was laughing when I read your post above.  I'm a mathematician/statistician now, doubt I'll switch.  I just missed my calling.

If I go back it'll be for operational research or a gov't based masters...
