XP: Baby Zara birth story
Hi ladies! Hope everyone is good! I've been MIA from here, but we did welcome our DD on Easter day, just a day shy of her EDD. WE had some struggles in the beginning with breast feeding, but things have been going well besides the lack of sleep.
Below is her birth story (also posted on my BMB):
I started feeling contractions at about 7pm on Saturday ? they definitely felt different from BH. I decided to sit for a while to see if they would stop, but instead they got stronger. I started timing them and they were coming every 4-5 minutes and lasting about 30-45secs. After about an hour, I called the hospital to see if they wanted me to come in. The midwife on call said to wait till they were lasting at least a minute. I tried using the birthing ball which provided some relief till the back labor started! Baby was sunny side up at my last appointment on Tuesday and the midwife warned me of the possibility of back labor. It was PURE HELL!!! At around 9:30pm, I told DH we needed to get going since the contractions were getting stronger and now coming every 2-3 minutes. I went to use the bathroom and passed my mucus plug. A few minutes later, my water broke. We packed up and headed to the hospital. We arrived at about 10:30 and I was checked at triage. To my surprise, I was already 7.5cm dilated, 90% effaced and baby was at -2 station! (I was only 1cm and about 80% effaced at my last prenatal). I was immediately admitted. I decided to hold off on the epi since I was making good progress without it. The back labor got even more intense. I asked to be checked again around 1:30 am and I was still at 7.5 cm with no progress. I was begging for the epi at this point! I got it by 2am and we were able to take a nap ? it was HEAVEN J I woke up by 3:30am and to my surprise I was 9.5cm and almost fully effaced! By 5am, I felt intense pressure and was ready to push. After pushing for 2 hours, our little Easter bunny made her appearance at 7am.
