Have you been to Cartagena, Colombia?

I have a work trip to Cartagena in November and trying to decide if I want to stay a few days after or before and make a vacation out of it. I can't tell by the google search so far if I would love it or hate it. Any advice on what to see and do there or nearby day trips/weekend trips?

In a couple weeks I leave for Santa Marta, Cuidad Perdida, and some nearby spots in Venezuela. I don't know if you'll like it, but I'm excited!
