Nanny Gift Help

Our nanny's last day will be in about 2 weeks.  I am trying to come up with something cute to give her as a present for being so awesome with my boys.  They will really miss her (she's moving back home to the midwest).  Anyone have any cute ideas?  I'm trying to find a balance between a gift card for something she would like and a momento from the boys that she might be able to keep.  I would like it to be personal, that's why I'm shying away from the gift card thing.  But, I don't want it to seem silly and I want her to know she was appreciated.

Re: Nanny Gift Help

  • Why not a combination of both? Have the kids paint a picture, or make a hand fish or foot butterfly of their prints - sign and frame it! Then give money or a gift card along with it. I'm sure it all will be appreciated!

I am trying to think what my nanny family gave me when I left..... granted that was 1997. I do think the sentimental route would be best.

not sure if you could turn around in 2 weeks but what about have them make a picture or artwork that you could make into notecards? Nice stationery is always great to have. :)
  • When we left our old daycare, I bought the director who we'd become very close to a pretty notebook.  On the inside cover I added a picture of Brinley and on the first page a I wrote a heartfelt note of appreciation and on the next page I had DD draw her a picture.

She said she loved gifts like that to take out and look at/read on a rough day.

I think combining that with a gift card would be a good solution.

ditto...do both! What about a paint your own pottery place and have them paint her something. Paint a jewelry box and put gift card inside. Or paint a frame and put a pic in it. Or the homemade ideas like Clare suggested.
