Anyone buy a For Sale by Owner

I know Amanda did, but she is visiting Mickey this week.

We looked at a house last night that is a FSBO. We want to make an offer. Has anyone done this before? It just kinda of came up, we were actually getting ready to make an offer on another house before this one came into the picture. She has another offer (of course) but we are meeting with her tonight.

Re: Anyone buy a For Sale by Owner

  • We did, but it was someone we knew, so the circumstances were a bit different.

We bought in 2004 - and we used a real estate sales agreement/offer from Staples.

We didn't, but if you do I' d recommend getting a real estate attorney to draw up the paperwork for the sale.

We are definitely going to do this, my dad's attorney and one of his BFF's is a real estate attorney. Although a rather pricey one.

  • We wanted to but in the end the guy wanted more then it would have been worth.  Especially since he only owned the property for 7 months and marked the price up nearly $20,000.  We are also using FHA so unless we could have talked him down it wasn't going to work...and he wasn't budging.

We did put an offer on a house this week but it wasn't accepted they countered but we can't meet their minimum so we have to walk.  I'm starting to really hate house hunting.

  • I totally hate house hunting. We are in a unique situation that we would be non-contingent and have no bank involved right now. I just am hating how high pressure it is since the people after us made an offer and it is DH's dream house. ugh, my head hurts.

  • We bought our house FSBO.   I can try to help with anything that you have questions on.
