Let's talk hair

So Tuesday morning as I was getting ready for my doctor appointment I was blow drying my hair and about halfway through I will stop to brush my hair and see where it is still wet (my hair is super thick and it can be hard to tell sometimes.) Anyway so as I turn off the dryer it sparks and basically blows up in my hand.

The plug was fine it was the dryer itself. Smoke came out of it and everything and pretty much scared the living crap out of me. So I went and bought a new blow dryer last night since H and I will be out of town this weekend at a graduation and I would like my hair to be presentable.

Now I am wondering what kind of blow dryer you ladies have? I am noticing I usually have to replace mine every 2-3 years which doesn't sound horrible but still.

  • I bought a cheap Conair (one with all the attachments) one 7 or 8 years ago and it sill works perfectly....only I have lost most of the attachments so I don't use to diffuse anymore, only for getting it dry fast or if I am going to straighten it.
  • I have the conair iron shine it came with 2 attachments I have had it for 5 years about and it still works great.

I think this is the one I have too. I've had it since I was in college...so about 6 years.

  • The last one I bought was from Aldi and it was a conair that folded up and had a retractable cord which was nice.

I am currently using one that a girl that rented a room from DH a few years ago left.  It has 3 heat settings and 3 speeds.  I like having the option of using medium heat.  No clue was brand it is, but it was made well!

  • I don't blow-dry my hair daily, I usually let it air dry and then straighten it... but I use a cheap con-air that came with a bunch of attachments, like a diffuser and some weird flat one, that I, mostly, lost over time and a retractable cord. I bought it about 6 years ago. I love it. It has a low and high speed with three different temperatures.
