Does anyone have an ice cream maker?

I have an ice cream maker that I haven't used in a few years.  I wanted to break it out but I'm looking for some nice (simple) ice cream recipes.  Some that I have found involve eggs and boiling things.  I'm looking for something where I can just throw the ingredients into the machine.  So if you have a favorite ice cream recipe for your ice cream maker, I would love to hear it.

I have one I love. It's a vanilla base, and you throw in shaved chocolate for the last 5 minutes. No eggs.

    1.5 c. heavy cream

    1.5 c whole milk

    1/25 c sugar

    1/2 vanilla bean

    2 oz semi sweet chocolate

You combine cream, milk and sugar in a pot over medium heat.

     stir until sugar disloves.

simmer until the edges of the pot buble. Add vanilla

Remove from heat and let it stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.

refrigerate for at least two hours.

Put in ice cream maker. add chocolate last 5 minutes of mixing, when it's almost finished--25 to 30 minutes after starting the maker.

  • Here is some from Southern Living, I have never tried any of them.

  • Honestly the cooking and eggs is what is going to give you "Real" ice cream

Just throwing in milk and sugar and stuff is goning to give you icey frozen milk/cream.

Its not that hard and I promise it will be SO GOOD! ;)

Ditto!  We made a custard that was so so good!   I've also dove sorbets with pur?ed strawberries (mangoes, etc), water and sugar.

oh yes sorbet is super easy.  puree fruit and add simple syrup ( equal parts sugar and water boiled to clear) and yum!
