A question about your town

Hey there. I am a long time poster on TK/TN and my H and I are coming to town next weekend for the first.

I think my H has most everything planned but we are going to the Pirates game on Sun which starts close to the same time as the hockey game. Do you guys have any suggestions where to park? And how to avoid the worst traffic?

Any must eats or places to see are welcome too :-)

Thank you, thank you!

Re: A question about your town

  • Tentatively, the Pens are playing in Pittsburgh on Wed and Friday, so they will be in Ottawa on Sunday so no need to worry about traffic.

You can park in downtown and walk over the Clemente Bridge to the ballpark or you can park right next to the stadium. Traffic shouldn't really be an issue.

Where are you staying and what are your plans? Then we can recommend some restaurants that would be convenient to those places.

  • We are driving over from the DC area and staying at the double tree near the airport.  This is kind of a spur of the moment anniversary trip, but mostly we are coming to see the Astros play the Pirates. So I don't think we have a whole lot planned other than the Sunday game.

  • Okay, so you are staying in Moon Township. Close to your hotel (about a 10 min drive) is Robinson, where there is numerous restaurant options, though mostly chains. But if you like burgers and booze shakes, I highly recommend Burgatory on Friday or Saturday there will definitely be a wait, but it is worth it.

If you want to drive into the city, which is about a 20-40 minute drive depending on the traffic, there are tons of options. What do you like or not like.

Burgatory is great! There is also a Primantti's across from your hotel http://primantibros.com/home.html It's "Pittsburgh" food if you want to experience that.

  • I forgot about Primanti's probably because I am not a huge fan. Embarrassed

Whatever you do, do not go to the Ground Round. Jackson's which is in your hotel is also good. There is an Italian called Armstrong's that is good, not fancy but good food. If you are looking for a fancier, The Hyeholde is good and in Moon

  • We are definitely burger people so I will mention that to H!  As well as the nice dinner option you mentioned for a possible anniversary celebration.

I will have to look at Primanti's menu. When in Pittsburgh why not try the local food?

Thanks ladies for the help!  H mkes fun of my chatting on these forums, but he always asks me what "my internet friends think" :-)
