Check with the liquor stores. They usually have a ton.

  • We hired a mover and got some boxes from them.  We got them from work.  Was kind of a hodgepodge of boxes.

    1.
We bought them from u-haul and Walmart. Walmart was much more cost effective and just as good.

    2. We went to Uhaul for the odd boxes (hanging clothes, etc) and Home Depot for some normal ones.

If you don't want to buy boxes, check with a local Starbucks for free ones.  They will set aside boxes for you on delivery day (I think "delivery day" is Mondays now).  The "retail" boxes and "coffee" boxes are the best.  I usually specify that I want those two types of boxes, otherwise they might save you every goofy box, even if it's ridiculously small.

    3. We just got rid of about 100 professional moving boxes on Craig's list.  We were happy to give them away for free and it's pretty common for people to list there.
    4. I'm going to hit up the liqour store for the boxes with dividers for my glasses, vases and Waterford pieces. I've been buying some totes at Walmart for $4.97 for odds and ends. Since we're going with a big moving company, I think they will provide the clothing boxes... I'll have to double check that! Otherwise, when we got estimates, the one company gave me like 25 boxes for free, and when we get closer to the date, I'm going to scour Craigs List for free ones. Good luck!
