Mother's Day: vents, AWs?

Keeping the board moving! How was your MD? Good, bad, ok? Get anything fun?

DH was OOT so I was on my own. Definitely missed sleeping in! I had some plans but the weather was terrible and ruined my 1 idea. DD was not in a good mood this weekend. Lately she's been saying a lot of mean things when upset and no matter what we do it hasn't been sinking in with her to not say them! She wasn't being very nice yesterday morning so I decided we wouldn't go out for breakfast. She flipped out. Nothing says Mother's Day like your kid saying she doesn't love you!! Ugh!

i did take her to a pottery painting place and we made something for me and something for dh for Father's Day and that went ok. But there were more meltdowns later in the day.

DH said we could celebrate this weekend so I'm really hoping to just sleep in!!

  • Aww, sorry to hear yours was a bit trying. I had a really nice MD. We usually keep Friday nights as family night and Tim told me he really wanted to give me one of my gifts early. He got me a card game based on Castle (my Castle girls take note - it's super cute!) and we ended up playing that all night.

On Saturday the boys took me to the Pancake House for breakfast and then on Sunday we did breakfast again after church and headed over to my parents' for dinner. Tim and Logan surprised me with tickets to 42nd Street starring... wait for it... JOEY FATONE!! I was so pumped!! I'm totally stalking him like it's 1999. :)

  • Our weekend was really nice.  I think Brian felt like he had to make up for last year, which was a complete & total bust due to the fact that the entire family had the stomach flu. Sad

The kids daycare had a Mother's Day luau on Friday, which was really cute.  on Saturday, Brian cleaned the house so that I could catch up on "The real housewives of orange county" during nap time--bliss!!

Yesterday morning, I slept in then woke up to the kids making muffins for me :)  They also got me a gerbera daisy, chocolate covered strawberries, and an armband for running.   I don't know what got into him, but Brian also baked a strawberries & cream cake for me & my mom!  we went to my parents house on Sunday, and my dad grilled burgers for everyone.

I hope everyone had a great day!

  • It was a pretty good day.  I did have to dish out a time out first thing in the morning but other than that it went well.  Dh made a great breakfast and I just kind of took it easy the rest of the day.

I do have one tiny complaint.  Dh mentioned that he started thinking earlier in the week about what they could get me.  Um, hello, I start thinking about father's day gifts months in advance.  Last year the girls gave him this great picture (a three pic picture frame with pics of them holding big letters spelling DAD).  I am already thinking about this year and he gave it 4 whole days of thought. Just saying...

Say what???  I must get tickets!!

My Mother's Day was nice - On Saturday we went to an early dinner with family at The Claddagh on Saturday.  (A nice bonus was running into some of my mom's cousins as we were leaving who were there for the same thing.)

I slept in on Sunday, had breakfast in bed, when out for a run, watched a movie, ordered take out and watched the Survivor Finale.  I already got my gift when I did a spa day the other month, they also got me an iTunes gift card and one of those singing cards that they listened to all day long.  They also made me homemade cards, that Mason kept hiding from me all weekend because I wasn't allowed to see them until "Happy Mother's Day".

It was a nice day, but today is our anniversary and we both forgot about it at first this morning.  haha!

  • Mine was nice and low key.  On Saturday DH came up to me and said "With me being sick this week, I didn't get you anything for Mother's Day."   So they decided to take me out for breakfast yesterday.  I've skipped gifts for him before, so it was fine.  Most of the day I was just lazy...I did watch a lot of Snapped.  (For those of you who are not FB friends with me - Noah made me a card in school and had to fill out a form about me.  He wrote "Snapped" under "mom's favorite tv show".)   My mom came over for dinner - DH made steak, shrimp and baked potatoes, it was delish.   And we watched the Survivor finale to end the day.

We had a nice weekend. As mentioned in the running post, I picked out my own gift this year and got some new running stuff. :) DH and DD went to the dollar store and got me a few other gifts like a new cup, loofah, hand soap and a balloon. It was very sweet and thoughtful. yesterday Dh gave Madi instruction to let me sleep in and wake him up when she got up. Well I was up anyway at 7:30ish and that my friends is sleeping in for me. Ha. MIL had everyone stop there for dinner. She just got food from GE. I took a dessert. Fun Fun.

Of course I waited until last min to get cards for the mom's. Saturday at GE there were only the $5 &6 sappy cards left. Note to self..... Dollar store had $.50 cards and they were very nice. :P

  • It was a very nice weekend! We went out to Burgatory Saturday night because DH and I had concert tix for last night. Then yesterday, DH made me breakfast and lunch and let me veg out most of the day. He and the kiddo also got me a new large skillet (I was so excited - such a nerd:P), silicone spatulas that I love and a couple of gift cards. It was a nice, relaxing day:)
  • I got to sleep in yesterday morning while DH got up with DD.  DH bought me a Pandora charm with DD's birthstone.  He also made me pancakes.

DH has been really busy lately.  He went to Vegas for work a few weeks ago, went to the lake to put the dock in and work on the house Saturday and has a couple golf tournaments coming up.  What I really want from him is for him to take DD for an entire day.  She's two months old today and DH has never had her for an entire day by himself yet.  I think it's time!

  • DD called it Saint Mother's day.  I guess she merged St. Patrick's day and mother's day.  I just thought it was so cute because us mothers really are saints.  I hope she calls it that every year.
