  • I am a follower of Jesus, straight out the Bible. Never converted, don't think I ever will.

  • I was born and raised Catholic, had to go through confirmation.  My mom made all 5 of us do it so we could get married in a church.  (Which none of us did! lol!)

I don't really consider myself any kind of religion.  I just have my own beliefs, and I don't tend to share in depth because people get all fired up when I talk about it.

I grew up a Congregationalist, which is a fairly liberal (sect? branch?) of Protestantism. I've since taken it one step further, ha, and while I'm not a church member, I attend a Unitarian church when I can.

  •  When we went to church, we went to a unitarian church ( the reverend who married us was from there), but we didn't go often. I consider myself agnostic. I have beliefs, but nothing strong. I don't push my views on others and i don't want others views pushed on me.

  • I was raised Roman Catholic...I went to Catholic school K-8th grade.
I was confirmed in the Catholic Church, but really did not want to go through with it. I did it for my grandmother, and the entire time I felt like a hypocrite because even at age 16 I knew that I did not agree with the teachings of the Catholic Church. Plus, we were taught some pretty ridiculous things in confirmation class (the priest only wanted to talk about sex, he told us that if a person knew that they could not have children then they should not be allowed to get married, the class was pretty expensive and his excuse to our parents was that we were paying for a "textbook" which we did not have, etc)

My absolute breaking point was when our church put a big note and petition in the bulletin to oppose stem cell research. Then the priest told us that if we didn't agree with his opinion on medical research to leave. I am a scientist, so that was the end for me!

I was not married in the Catholic Church...DH and I do not agree with many of the Church's teachings. We believe in gay marriage and we believe in a woman's right to choose.

I don't follow any organized religion; however, I believe in a higher power, being a good person, and helping all people. That's how our future children will be raised.

    Sorry that was long!

  • I was raised Roman Catholic and was married in the Church. To be honest though, I'm not really religious. We wanted our children to have the option of staying Catholic if they so choose. Other than that I have no real ties to any church. I believe what I want and live my life accordingly.

  • I have had pretty much the same experience as Nic.  I was raised Catholic, but I do not agree with a lot of things the Catholic Church teaches.  I haven't been to church in several years and I have no plans to go back any time soon.

I believe in God and living a good life.

My mom is Roman Catholic and my dad is Jewish.  We were all baptized Catholic and made our first holy communion (2nd grade).  My mom didn't push us to go any further.  My one sister went on to make confirmation.  My other sister ended up converting to Judaism.  I was married in the Catholic church because I'm still technically a member and the priest who baptized me was still there (unfortunately he wasn't able to do the ceremony because he was out of town).  H is not Catholic (he is nondenominational Christian, but raised Pentecostal) he we were planning to have a nondenominational ceremony but it ended up being much easier to get married in a church one of us already belonged to.

I say I'm Catholic because I'm more familiar with the customs and traditions of Catholicism than any other religion.  But, as far as the beliefs go...not so much, haha.  I am FAR too liberal to be a good Catholic.  H is way more religious than me.  I believe in God, maybe even Jesus, doing good in the world, etc.  I don't need a specific book to tell me how to live a good life.

Aro, my mother is Roman Catholic and my father is Jewish too.  I was raised and am a practicing Catholic.  H's mother is Jewish and father is Catholic.  He was raised Jewish, but never really practiced past bar mitzvah classes.

We were married in my church because that was very important to me.

I do go to church every Sunday, however, there are many teachings I disagree with.  I totally disagree with their gay marriage teaching.  I firmly believe God's plan is for you to love someone and not that you have to love someone of the opposite gender.  I think God wants everyone to experience the love of another human.  And, if God created all people and some people are gay, then clearly, God made those people that way.

  • I never got a chance to answer yesterday...

I grew up going to Baptist church but stopped when I was probably 8 or 10.  I have never really been a religious person but since I met DH, it has sparked my interest.  DH is Catholic and we have both talked about starting to go on Sundays.  I have even talked about converting.  Both DH and I eventually want to get married in the church but he has to get an annullment first which I am pretty sure is going to be a big pain in the butt.
