Hello everyone. I decided to join the nest because my SO and I are starting to look for a house. I am already a member of the bump because I am 7 weeks pregnant as of today. It was a bit of an unexpected surprise but we're excited! We live in Fort Wayne, IN and plan to live here for as long as we can. We are the owners of an 8 month old Alaskan Malamute and he already weighs 90 pounds. He is expected to get to 140 pounds by the time he is 2. He's such a wonderful dog. Very calm and well behaved. For some reason I've realized that very few people own these dogs and they are quite rare, at least in our state. Anyone else out there a malamute owner? I have pictures of him on my profile if anyone is curious.
Re: Introduction
Welcome!
I'd imagine that Alaskan Malamutes would be pretty darn rare in Texas! They're best suited for cold weather, so I'd guess they don't make their way south too often!
I have a 2-yr-old Boxer, who I just love to death, and 2 hilarious/spastic/lazy/adorable cats.
GL with him, and welcome, once again!

Thank you so much! Our dog is definitely very spoiled rotten. We just can't say no to his cute face! But luckily, he's very well behaved. So he deserves to be spoiled. Hehe
Oh absolutely! we live in Indiana and the summers get hot here. We will be trying to teach him to like water so he can swim in the pool, however he HATES water and giving him a bath is a two person job Lol. My uncle's friend had a malamute and he lives in Texas also. Unfortunately it was too hot for him so they had to give him to friends that lived in Wisconsin. They are quite a rare breed in themselves really, ours always gets confused for a husky even though he's about twice the size of a full grown husky, and he's only 8 months old!
Our friends have a boxer that's about a year old, and he just absolutely NUTS, but I don't think they ever trained him. Boxers are such great family dogs! Yours looks very handsome!
Reading comprehension failure on my part, LOL! I totally read your intro and thought you said you lived in Texas! I have no idea how I did that. Whoops! Sorry! But yeah, Indiana is dang hot, too, so I'm sure Malamutes don't show up there too often. I've only seen a few at my local dog park. And it's true; most people think they're huskies because they don't realize huskies are quite a bit smaller than they expect! Malamutes are big and fluffy! Huskies are pretty compact!
Zoey (my boxer) is such a total sweetie!! She's definitely got that nutso Boxer streak, for sure, but it's been tempered by lots and lots of training! Hahah. Thanks for the complement!
