Could we be getting Verizon Fios?

There have been men working in our neighborhood for the past week or so now.  They are burying orange tubes with some type of cables or something running in them.  DH tried to ask them what they were doing, but they are Mexican and they didn't understand what he was asking.  We are hoping it's Fios because we want to switch!

    That sounds like Verizon FIOS.  We've had the FIOS internet since we bought our house and really have been happy with it.  My parents are getting the FIOS tv shortly.

    Yep...sounds like FIOS to me!  They came and installed it in our neighborhood and they destroyed our yard.  We were SOOOOO mad...actually our whole development was mad and filed major complaints with Verizon.  They never put our yard back the way it was and left major holes and spots with no grass all over the place.  It was a mess.  We just had a VIOS rep stop at the house to tell us all about how it works, etc and also told us how sorry they were for the mess the workers did on the yards in the neighborhood.  He said they are cancelling their contract with that company that has been installing the cable.  You may have the same company doing yours....good luck!

    Yes - but in limited areas for now!!!  I work pt at a hotel and for the past 3 weeks, we have had 35 guys, 1 gal staying with us while they are installing FIOS in some areas!!   Every few weeks we will get another batch of guys!!

     Fios is not available in my neck of the woods yet~~

    Lesli -- All the guys staying with us work for Verizon, not a contractor, so i hope no yards get destroyed - what a shame!!

    Yeah the guy told us that they cancelled their contracts with those contractors and Verizon employees will be doing the installs from now on.  Yeah they really did do a number on our neighborhood.

    I think our development had the same guys as Lesli and because parts of our development were still under construction I think Verizon didn't really give a damn that people's yards and common areas looked crappy :(
