DH asked what I want for my birthday. I told him I need a break - I want a few hours by myself to get a haircut, manicure, and pedicure. I might add in lunch with a friend, too.
I've also been taking walking breaks at work around lunchtime to get out of my (windowless) cubicle and computer lab, and it's really been helping my mood. And the past 2 weekends, I've done playdates with DS and it's a really nice to get out and interact with other families.
So, what do you do to unwind?
Re: What do you do to relax?
I sing. I make fudge (most of which is to gift, but I always snag a few pieces for myself, and lick the bowl). I sing. I am trying to get into a routine where exercise is my go-to stress release, but it just hasn't happened that way yet (probably because I haven't found that ONE workout that gets me all riled up).
Did I mention I sing? Hop in the shower, hum a tune... Bop out a melody that's going through my head on the piano. When I need me time, time to truly unwind, I always find myself turning to music.
Happy Birthday!
I think time alone is a great way to relax. Even if it is just to run to the store (alone!). I actually find that working out is relaxing, sounds crazy I know but I go to the gym or to yoga and that makes me feel better, especially when I am stressed.
I used to find gardening relaxing, but with a toddler not so much.
