Storms

So I know I have been sort of MIA the past few days we have had crazy freak weather and today topped it all. As you know we are trying to sale MIL's house/property. About 2:45 today it started raining and hailing and tornados it lasted all of 20 min. MIL's neighbor called to tell us there was some damage so we tried to go look but all the roads were closed so we went to dinner and then went back out there.

Ponce we got there we saw houses destroyed. MIL's house is not as bad as others but we are expecting it to be a total loss. Several people are without homes and power tonight and I hope every one will pray for them. The Red Cross will be out in the morning and we will be calling the insurance. I took as many pictures as possible but it doesn't do the damage justice. It is beat with hail dents all the windows are busted out the floors are soaked and 1/3 of the roof is gone. There is way more damage but that is the majority.

We are so thankful MIL was not here to see the house and she was not in the house at the time. Some of the family heirloom furniture that was still in there is ruined as well.

Re: Storms

  • Will insurance be able to recoup any of the losses?  Glad no one was in the house at the time.

I heard about the storms and all the damage in that area this morning :(

I'm so sorry your MIL's house was affected and that you have to deal with the aftermath. But I agree with you that at least your MIL isn't here to see her home destroyed.  T&Ps for everyone affected

Doubt it. So far H and I have figured up the damage is pretty close to the $10,000 range. It's a mobile home so it would just be smart of them to call it a total loss. All the floors have to be replaced, at least 10 windows, some furniture is ruined, and then outside damage to the roof and siding and everything else.

The insurance is supposed to call back about the claim today and set up a time soon to come and look at everything.
