Kingdom Kids Nursery School-Mt. Lebanon
Hi Ladies,
We are going to be moving to the Mt. Lebanon area this summer and I am doing some very late research on some of the preschools in the area that still have openings. My son will be 4 in June and I am hoping to find a 3 half-day/week program for him that is not too far of a drive from the Galleria area. Does anyone have any experience with Kingdom Kids? Any other preschools in the area that you love and might have spots?
Thanks in advance! I might be here with more questions as our move approaches. Any other thoughts on moving to the South Hills are also more than welcome
Re: Kingdom Kids Nursery School-Mt. Lebanon
I have been in Dormont for 13 yrs. and I love the south hills!
I am not sure if you have a religious prefrence. We sent our son to St.Bernard School. Its the Catholic Church right there, pretty stone with the multi color tile roof
They have a Catholic School through grade 8. But they also offer Preschool both 3 day and 5 day full and half days for 4 yr olds. They definitely teach general religion, but it is open to anyone. there is a slight price break if you are a member of the church.
Adam went Mon Wed Fri 8:30-11am. We have been super happy with the school, the teachers and what he has learned in the last 9 months!
Registration was in January, but they still accept people as long as they have room. We gained 3 kids in his class over the course of the year.
I was looking in to preschools when he was 2 hoping to send him at 3 ( but he didn't potty train and no one would take diapers) At that time St. Bernard was right in line price wise with everyother preschool, religious or not, that I had looked into all over the area so we opted to go there since it is where we got married and belong ( although we don't go to church reguarly
)
like I said we were really happy with it. and FWIW we are NOT keeping him in Catholic school. He will be attending Keystone Oaks this fall for kindergarten.

My daughter will be in the 3 day doves class next year. She has been in the Moms Morning Out program for two years at the same church and loved it so I spoke with a lot of parents at the school and they all seem to love it.
I would be happy to answer any questions about the S. Hills. We have lived in Mt Lebanon for 5 years and love it here. I have a 3 year old and 1 year old.

the Mushroom Family Learning Center it is in the Unitarian-Universalist Church. it is farther up the road on the right. the white building with the rollover edge grey roof. (kinda reminds me of a mushroom or a Gnome house
)
I looked into that too becasue someone had recommended it. If I remember correctly they were one of the more expensive places.

Bethel Presbyterian Church has a preschool program and many people in my neighborhood have sent their children there. it is not far from the Galleria,

Thank you so much for all the replies! I will definitely check out all of the suggestions. The problem we are facing is that most places are full for the fall. I would really love to get an AM spot too....wishful thinking!!
Thanks again
St. Bernard only offers A.M or full day so you would be good there. Like I said registration was in Jan, but they keep sending home information reminding people to register.
They say people with kids already in the system, and then members of the the church and then non member Catholics AND then everyone else are priority.
But like I said his class started out with 13 kids and ended up with 16. All the new kids joined at different times through the year.

Mushroom has a fantastic reputation. St. Paul's is another one close to the Galleria - my realtor sent her girls there and liked it. http://www.stpaulsnurseryschool.com/
We go to Mt. Lebanon Montessori. It's <10min from the Galleria, but it's 5 days/week. Half day program. I like it a lot. They also offer an extended day through the church they rent space from (St. Winifred's). It's called Early Learning Center.

I've heard nice things about Sunset Hills: http://www.sunsethillsnurseryschool.com/
Honestly I doubt that you can go wrong.
Welcome to Mt. Lebo! We've been here a year and a half and really enjoy it!
