who's purchased a generator for a home that's all electric..what did you need to do?
-->
My house is all electric even the heating which is electric baseboard. I was told that I would need to purchase a propane tank or have has connected to my home to run a Generic generator which is the one that starts when your power shuts off. Can you tell me your experience if you bought one
Also what would I need to do and have and cost?
Re: who's purchased a generator for a home that's all electric..what did you need to do?
We have a generac generator- but we also have gas heat and stove so it was a lot easier for us to connect it. I think it ran us about 8000 or so- but we also live in hurricane territory and decided it would be something that we really wanted. We didn't get one that would power the whole house- but most of the house so it will run our AC, fridge, freezer etc so we can be comfortable when we lose power for a week or two. I think we've had it a little over a year, and no hurricane yet!
If you need a propane tank it would probably need to be a decent sized one so that you could run off it for an extended period of time- otherwise it would make more sense to just go with a gas one and change oil, keep gas on hand for when you need it.
