How is everyone doing?
I've just been doing some short runs. I'm trying to work up to 5 miles without walking breaks before I start the half marathon training plan. These were done on the treadmill because I didn't have time to get out. Super boring, but much cooler to run in our basement vs. outside.

Re: Running Post!
I really struggled last week. First With schedules it was hard to get my runs/workouts in and I wasn't feeling well over the weekend. But I'm proud I got in my 3 runs even though I really didn't think I would! Second, I struggled with C25K. I feel like I need to run more often to keep up my running level! I just was not up to it last week. I was on week 4 which is doing 5 mins of running and I struggled. I modified and would take a quick walk break but got right back to it. Overall my runs felt difficult but I was happy with my pace.
this week will be another challenge. Dh's schedule lately is killing my workouts/runs! Also the hot weather is proving challenging! I'm hoping I can get 3 runs in but not sure this week. I really wish I had a treadmill! Anyways since last week wasn't great I'm redoing week 4. I am definitely not ready for week 5 yet!
yes! Does anybody know how to fix that??? I used to run listening to radio or pandora/spotify. But just started using iTunes last week. I paused my song and it paused the Nike app and for some reason didn't start up. I was so ticked that the Nike app missed out on most of my run.
I have fallen hard off the wagon since Disney. But have a plan to get back into a routine. We were just so busy in the yard this weekend I hated to expel extra energy just to run when I had actual work to do. So with K out of town another day I will get out at lunch tomorrow, which I am hoping won't be too hot. Then again on Friday. Either before work or at lunch again, and a Sunday morning run. So this is my plan. And you all can hold me accountable to it!
Thursday - 3.1 miles/ 27:52
Sunday - 3.1 miles/ 27:39
My knee has been bothering me a bit, hoping its only temporary! I am running Color Me Rad and Miles Against Melanoma in June.
I always had trouble with my Nike run app, so I stopped using it. For me the biggest issue was that it was always incorrect with my mileage, telling me I had run much further than I did. (Ex. It told me I had run over 6 miles when I did North Park Lake, and the full loop is only around 5.) DH just got me a garmin watch, but I have also been using Run Keeper app, which I really like.
Gwen - I didn't take to running until my second try at C25K (1 year apart). On my first try, I don't even think I made it through week 2 or 3. On my second try, I was convinced running was just not for me, but I told myself to just complete C25K, then I could quit. It took me at least 4-6 weeks to get into the routine of it where I wasn't dreading it, and sometimes I still have a love/hate relationship with running, but that was the turning point for me.
What keeps me going are having a lot of goals (pace/distance/etc.) and the races - they are so fun and addicting! Other classes that I take, I do more for "fun" - I enjoy them, but on the flip side, I don't get the same sense of accomplishment from running vs. class. It's also nice to be able to do with DH.
Anyway, it's definitely not for everyone, but it did take me a while and a lot of attempts to get where I am (not that it's much, haha!). As someone who was also CONVINCED that running would NEVER be for me, I just thought I'd throw that out there!
ETA: Sorry, I wasn't trying to come off like it was impossible that someone couldn't like running. I just remember feeling so strongly that it would never be for me, and honestly thought runners were cray-cray. I just thought I'd share how I started and what eventually made it enjoyable for me. Obviously, you need to do what works for you!
I am with you totally. I think I actually walk faster than I run and I enjoy walking more!

I'll stand by you. (In zumba class!) I flunked out of C25K twice. It was just not something that I enjoyed. And because I didn't enjoy it, I didn't do it. I thought of one million other things that were a better use of my time. I feel like for me, I need the scheduled times of my classes to keep me honest. I know that at 6pm or 7:15 on certain days I have a date with zumba - and I can't put it off until later, because there is no class later. I think it's just finding what you like and what you'll actually get out there and do!
No worries - I understand:) I've tried running a couple of times (and actually ran track in high school schockingly enough). It's just one of those things that anymore I don't enjoy. I thought having a goal might help, but I fell off the wagon after being sick and just never got back on:P I'm looking forward to the 5K and think it will be fun, but I think I'll be content to just go back to walking, yoga, zumba after.
Where are they doing the Color Me Rad run? I did it last year and it was terrible. WAY to many people for the venue, no lanes for walkers/runners so I had to weave in a out of people walking, only 1 fluid station (which was ridiculous being that it was in the heat of August) and I'm not even sure it was a full 3.1 miles. But, it was still a ton of fun and I really enjoyed it!
it's at Star Lake this year. Or, post-gazette pavilion? what are they calling it now?

It's First Niagara Pavilion now
Oh God, I'm such a Pittsburgher

Emmy, I'm with you. I still call it Star Lake. I figure, that's an actual place. The corporate names come and go so quickly, the lake will always be there
Oh, that venue should be MUCH better. Bigger and more parking.
I still call it Star Lake, too. haha
