Toward the end of pregnancy, I hurt my wrist while lifting my ridiculously huge self out of bed. I'm finally done trying to see if I can "fix" it myself.
Can anyone recommend an Orthopaedic Surgeon with UPMC affiliation?
Bonus points for a South Hills location. Thanks!
Re: Orthopaedic Surgeon rec?
Good to know... Goitz came up in my search.
ETA: I just feel weird going to some of these guys who do some pretty intensive hand surgeries for "yeah... my wrist really hurts and I don't know why..." Ha!
yes but all they see are hands
. Much better than going to a jack of all trades who "thinks" it's X
Dr. Burke at Burke & Bradley, St. Margaret. He was referred to us from a Nestie's husband, who is an orthopedic PA.
Anyway, my DH especially can't say enough about him. After unsuccessfully visiting two other docs (upper extremity docs, one who told him he had to live with the pain) for his shoulder, Dr. Burke quickly diagnosed and treated him over two visits.
Dr. Burke was (is?) the orthopedic doc for the US Winter Olympic team, and dr. Bradley treats the Penguins.
I also saw him for a cyst on my wrist - really liked the man.
Good luck! http://findadoc.upmc.com/PracticeView.aspx?ID=14682&N=Burke & Bradley Orthopedics
My three sons!
My DH used to work for all 3 of the above and would recommend any of them exc. Brunton is with Excela now so you can't go to him. He also worked with Burke (Clare's suggestion below) who is also good - he worked with Pens for years but is at St Margarets.
How time flies! Caileigh (9), Keira (6) & Eamon (3)
Thanks for all of the recommendations! I will hopefully be able to call tomorrow to schedule something.
I wear a wrist brace to bed every night and it's unbelievably hard to undo the velcro when DD wakes up in the MOTN or first thing in the morning. If I don't sleep with it, my wrist bends and hurts. So, yes -- ready to see a doctor now!

Hey Inkedmegs,
Sorry to hear about all your trouble! I saw you post and had to stop and say something. My wife also fell and caught herself while pregnant injuring her wrist. It caused her quite a substantial amount of pain while she was trying to fix it herself and carry our child. We went through about a dozen different wrist braces before she settled on one that she really liked from a newer website. Here is the link and I hope it helps and things get better!
Regards!
